Higher temperatures, sea level rise, erosion, flooding, storm damage, tornadoes, intense rainfall events – all these impacts of climate change are anticipated to be more frequent as worldwide carbon emissions rise. These can have significant impacts on our landscapes. And we have the opportunity to use our landscapes to help in the battle to avoid climate change’s impacts. On August 13, 2020 the Chatham Climate Action Network presented a program on Transitioning to a Climate Smart Landscape.
Local experts and enthusiasts provided guidance in areas such as simple actions that can reduce your carbon footprint, help with carbon sequestration and carbon storage; contribute to resiliency from weather extremes; help support nature; and protect Chatham’s waterways and groundwater.
